It's that time of year again!!

It is getting to be half-marathon time again in the Scarbrough house, and we are in the midst of training for the St. Jude half-marathon again. This will be my 3rd year and Jason's 2nd year, and we decided to raise money for St. Jude this year, so I am posting the website where you can go and donate money under our team's name, which is Runnin' for a Reason. Our goal is $2,000.00, which means we only need 100 people to give us $20.00--anyone who wants to or can, please help us reach our goal! You can give more or less than $20.00--any amount is welcome! If you are interested in running and want to join our team, we would love to have you-just drop me an e-mail and let me know!

Happy Birthday, Jennie!

We celebrated Jennie's birthday this weekend with an excellent meal at Rust (a new restaurant in Clarksdale). The food is always fabulous! After that we all went out, which I admit-I never do, but I did for Jennie's birthday, and we had a lot of fun! Charles sang karaoke--he sings sooo good, and some of us girls attempted to sing--not so good, but fun! We always have such a great time!

OUCH!!!

Pic right after his fall--still smiling--what a sweetie! He is so brave--he kept telling me "it's ok mommy, I'm tough-that's the way God made me."

Pics that night--it just kept swelling--I kept ice on it on and off all day even though I know it only helps right after, but I hoped it would stop the swelling. Poor guy--my dad said he looked like the guy off of star trek!

Pics last night and today--here come the double "shiners!!"

Well, it looks worse than it is, or at least that is what the Hematologist at St. Jude tells us! Grayton was running down the hallway the other day, slipped, and fell into the wall. For those of you who don't know, Grayton was diagnosed with Type 2B Von Willebrand Disease almost 2 years ago by the amazing hematology group at St. Jude--it is a bleeding disorder that just causes him to bruise and bleed easily, so any little bump is a big deal for him! Poor little guy--he looks like someone smacked him between the eyes with a baseball bat! He is tough though--he never complained of it hurting or anything, but me being the worrysome mother gave him Tylenol around the clock for 2 days because I was scared he would get a headache! I did not sleep at all the night it happened--I was checking his pupillary response, heart rate, and waking him every couple of hours to be sure he did not have a concussion. Boy, it must stink to have a FNP for a mother! However he is so proud of his 2 black "shiners" on his eyes! They were his "show and tell" for school on Friday!

OUR ADDICTION!!

OUR ADDICTION!!
After the birth of Grayton, Jason and I began running and became highly addicted!! I soon made my first jogging stroller purchase, The Tike Tech all terrain single jogger. It was wonderful until I needed another seat for Riley Kate. I got this Dreamer Design off of ebay, and I love it! I call it my freedom and my sanity because I can load up the kids and go running whenever I feel like it! The kids love to stroll. They usually ask to go. We have run several races just for fun--Delta Jubilee 5K, Juke Joint Festival 5K, St. Jude 1/2 Marathon, Double Decker 10K, 300 Oaks 10K, etc. We love to run and if there is a race we can make it to, we'll run it!! We are running about 4 to 5 miles a day now with long runs of 7 to 12 miles on the weekends!

A LITTLE HOBBY OF MINE

A LITTLE HOBBY OF MINE
Since Grayton's 1st birthday, I have ventured out a bit and started baking and creating my kid's birthday cakes each year. Also, I am the homeroom mother for Grayton's class, so I am trying to get creative with my baking. I am not very good at it, but it is so much fun!! If anyone has any new cute ideas, share them with me.
